One-click Anki export: your cards, your rules

There's a quiet anxiety with any study tool: what happens to my work if I leave? Years of Anki users have learned to be wary of decks locked inside an app. So we made a decision early — your flashcards are yours, and you can take them anywhere. One click exports any Lumo deck to a standard Anki .apkg file.

Why this matters

Anki is the gold standard of serious spaced repetition, with a devoted community and a lifetime of decks. Plenty of committed students aren't going to switch review apps — nor should they have to. The painful part was always the making: authoring good cards is slow, and building cloze and image-occlusion cards by hand is genuinely tedious.

Advanced types survive the trip

A lossy export isn't worth much. Lumo's exporter maps its card types onto their Anki equivalents faithfully: cloze deletions become real Anki cloze notes with their {{c1::...}} markers intact, multiple-choice and scenario cards land as clean basic cards, and image-occlusion cards carry their image across. What you built in Lumo is what opens in Anki.

Your progress comes too

If you've already been reviewing a deck in Lumo, the export preserves the scheduling state, so your cards don't reset to day one when they land in Anki. The memory you've built stays with the cards.

Ownership as a feature
